Oil and Gas Pipeline Fundamentals

Course Number

The Oil and Gas Pipeline Fundamentals training series, composed of four class groups provides a firm knowledge foundation for people new to oil and gas pipeline industry technical or operations roles.  The first two classes provide a comprehensive overview of oil and gas pipeline basics and a fundamental understanding of the equipment and components comprising pipeline systems.  The next three classes build on the first two by explaining pipeline operations and maintenance along with the SCADA, controls and leak detection systems used to automate field and control room operations.  Business aspects of oil and gas pipelines are covered next via classes discussing regulations, economics, and joint ventures.  The series concludes with the more technical topics of hydraulics, pipeline engineering, design, and finally construction.      

Those enrolling in the Oil and Gas Fundamentals training series typically hold operations, maintenance, asset integrity, engineering, technical, SCADA, and controls assignments.  Designed as a comprehensive training series for those with one to three year’s experience, senior technical personnel taking the course comment that they appreciate knowing more about the “why” instead of just the what of their assignments.
